The company was registered in the year 2002 but founded in 1998 by Mr KR Naidu.
After enduring countless backbreaking hours, many sacrifices and challenges. GPR Plastics is presently the largest 100% Black owned industry of its kind in SA, and going strong. Currently boasting a 21000m2 premises (10000m2 under roof) with 17 state of the art injection molding machines and 7 double screw PVC profile extruders. Having started with just 1 Engel injection molding machine manufacturing 1 product on a 1500m2 premises. 21 years later GPR Plastics now manufactures more than 70 products including PVC Fascia Board, PVC Barge Board, PVC Gutter, PVC UG/SV Pipes and a complete range of SABS approved 110mm S.W.V & S.W.D polypropylene fittings.
Presently changing history(2012), managing member Mr. KR Naidu is involved in developing the SABS specification for the use of polypropylene in above ground fittings. Approval of this spec will see an end to the 9 year battle between GPR Plastics cc and the SABS that have sided with the PVC industry against Polypropylene.
Friday, the 14th February 2014. Has brought about some great news, the above mentioned battle has come to an end. GPR Plastics has emerged victorious, and is now paving the way forward on polypropylene production. The new SABS spec, SANS 721 is due for publication later this month.
Leading the way, as at 18 June 2014 GPR Plastics cc is the first in Africa to obtain SANS 721 accreditation. (Update: SANS 721 is a reality and in full production) All these years later, our passion and dedication remain strong.
